"SURPRISE!!!!"

dear mr & mrs bloggie…

We started way back. If memory did serve me right, I know them since the day I was born. You could say…. forever?

Sleepovers, concert-concert, reading the Quran lessons, to name a few, were just some of the things that painted our childhood memories. But of course, it didn’t stop there.

It was a norm to meet up at my place every other weekend. Our mothers would be busy cooking with dearest grandmama and we children would be full of activities only we cousins could think of. See, we were a creative lot, and fun would be a sin if absent. Such love.

No one could accept me the way they do because growing up pampered and spoiled, attention was given to me aplenty, and they were so giving (more than I could bargain for honest to God). But hey, this is not my story.

Today, it is all about my cousin Siti Rosiah, or more known here in my blog as cuz Ctea. Weeks from now, history would be created, more so for the five of us.

To know she would belong to someone else. To know that now another human being would be part of her life forever. Not that I am complaining mind you, but things would never be the same again. I love my cousin all the same, and heck, even my cousin-in-law to be. It would be exciting to see what fate has in store for them. I could only pray.

It was a tiring day for Cuz Nur and I. We covered every nook and cranny of Plaza Singapura to get the party supplies. Our bad that it was last minute but boy, did we pull it off. It was a special occasion, so to speak. I must add, we couldn’t do it without the help of her beloved fiancé who had to play along just for this surprise party. Wretchedly, a tantrum as thunderous as Cuz Ctea, he got a scolding for nothing. Poor lad. Ha di ha.

The venue was our much visited Gallery Hotel. Door gift consisted of Victoria Secret perfume and lots of mini-candy canes. Drinks that of Vodka and a bottle of Rose and Sauvignon Blanc. Food? Many thanks to Canadian Pizza.
Guests…..? Go figure.

My cameras, digital and Polaroid what else, were vital tools as we were seen taking shots after shots in the hopes of capturing the last few moments of her singledom. The night demanded no less.

Games had us laughing like fools. We tried the “I’ve never…..blah blah blah” game where the others, who had done what that chosen person hadn’t, would have to drink up. Because we know each other too well, the game didn’t quite work. And besides, we took so long thinking we drank anyways. It was pathetic, in a good kind of way. Awww….

The night had us in fits of giggles. It ended with just that too. What, when we were squashed together on a queen sized bed, all five of us, trying to wish each other good night that took a whole five minutes. It's hilarious, I'm chuckling as I am typing this away. Unfortunately, it’s an inside joke so I'll end this bit here. Basically, happy as clams we were. Weeee hooo....

It was something to remember, that night. A hen night like no other because we relived the past. In pictures, and in person.

Who would have thought five kids sleeping together in the living room of Blk 226 on a thin mattress one and a half decades ago would still be as close as before years later…. If there’s one thing about fate, this is it.

I love you cousins.

Hope you had a blast Cuz Ctea!

And Japanese Garden, we are gonna rock the runway!
